The Moon is a 400th of the size of the Sun
The Moon is also a 400th of the distance to the Sun
That is why an eclipse is so perfectly formed.

Every four years the Moon crosses our equator
It spends four years in the Northern hemisphere
and then four years in the Southern hemisphere

The Moon is cycling towards us and away from us.
The closest point (perigree) is about 360,000 kms.
The farthest point (apogee) is about 410,000 kms.
This cycle is less than 28 days

The Moon is positioned with the same star behind it, also under every 28 days

The Moon rotates on its axis in synchronicity with it´s orbit around the earth
Therefore we only ever see one side of the moon

The tidal effects witnessed in the oceans
are also occuring on the land below us.
