Lunar Astrology

In Indian astrology the Moon is as important as the Sun - and often more so. The sky is also split into 27 Lunar Mansions (Nakshatras) of 13.20 degrees, each with their own character. There timing corresponds with the journey of the moon according to the stars behind it. So every 27.3 days we all have a lunar birthday.

The origins of the Nakshatras date back to before Confucius, The Romans and Akhenaton, to a more female period of life, before monotheism and Sun worship.

Experience has proven their accuracy.

Indian Astrology

In both Indian (Vedic) and Western astrology, the Zodiac is split into twelve solar 30-degree divisions.

The Vedic Zodiac resembles what is seen through a telescope. But Western astrology takes into account the wobble (precession, or Ayanamsa) of the Earth's axis.

Therefore there is a 24° difference in the Zodiacal divisions. So if your Sun is in Taurus in Western astrology, then your Sun sign is probably Aries in Vedic astrology. Precession is only relative to our Sun, and therefore the Solar system (Tropical Zodiac). Not to our Galaxy.

Vedic astrology is Galactic (Sidereal) based. The Planets relay with their personalities, influences from the Galactic Centre, about 6° Sagittarius (Sidereal).

Vedic astrology is mathematical, with numerous divisions and ways of cross-referencing. Even the latitudes of the Planets are considered, as is the distance between the Sun and the Moon. From birth different planets rule us. Graha is the word for planets, meaning 'rays of energy'
